Stephen King (born 1947) is an American author of horror, suspense and crime fiction. His works have been compared to those of Edgar Allan Poe and Ray Bradbury. His novels, particularly his Dark Tower tetralogy, have inspired multiple film adaptations, including The Dark Tower and The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger .
