I'm lovin' it. Would love to get more games like this to play and review.. My problem with this game is not the translation issues, its the protagonist. How am I suppossed to root for or relate to this scumbag? He constantly makes racist statements that don't lead into anything (one time he just straight up says that Saratovs are untrustworthy and that's his whole thought) he complains about everything, is vehemetly against Television in the same way a Vegan is against steak. He reminds me of a ♥♥♥♥♥ who finishes her turn and, when coming home, turns on porn and invites her neighbour for <<a horse♥♥♥♥♥♥of tea>>.Also are ghouls a thing in Russia?. The only thing which could possibly justify the eight dollar price tag of this "interactive" visual novel is the fact that there would appear to be eight different endings. But considering that a single "playthrough" of this game took me considerably less than an hour, and gave me a whopping great TWO OR THREE choices to make throughout in order to achieve said ending, I'm a little dubious about the overall value being offered. Add to this the fact that the story is charmingly bonkers at best, and the "English" translation of the text is, er...somewhat flawed, to say the least...it's a bit hard to give this anything bar the most reserved of recommendations. I AM going to recommend it, nonetheless, but only on mega-sale, and only for the morbidly curious. It's a long way from the WORST thing on Steam, but, y'know...well, I'm sure you can fill in the rest of that sentence for yourself. A pass. Just. Verdict: 5/10.(PS There's also an incredibly♥♥♥♥♥♥poor "space-shooter" mini-game/easter egg you can unlock by clicking on the computer in your character's apartment, but believe me, that ain't gonna justify your eight bucks, either.)(PPS "Based on true story"? According to what, some tall tale your crazy Russian grandfather told you while you were bouncing on his knee?!). Is the word "horror" even needed in any title with the words Russian and story?Needs more Putin riding bears.. keep pressing space like 1to2min and game is done. Worst game I ever played, ever. I only played it to get the achievements, Rest is pretty boring. My god.. You can feel the whole Russia just by playing this game once. ____Unique experience____. This game is brilliant! It's a visual novel, set in a Moscow apartment complex. The protagonist is a slightly pretentious young teacher who is being slowly driven mad by his noisy neighbours. It doesn't sound like the sort of premise you could make into an involved and engaging story, but it really works. The main character is the epitome of an unreliable narrator as he slowly goes mad - you're never quite sure if his neighbours are just noisy thugs or if there is really something much more sinister going on. Without spoiling it, some of the endings are incredibly disturbing, some are strange and some are just weirdly satisfying. It's a fairly short game and doesn't take long to get all the endings, but it's really worth playing. There are some genuinely creepy moments in the game and it overall has a really nightmarish feel to it. We played it in English on the first play through. This game seems to be getting some negative reviews and a lot of people have pointed out that the loading screen is in Russian and has to be switched (easily done by clicking on the flag) and also that the English translation isn't perfect in areas. But it's not any worse than other translated visual novels and it's actually very well done for an indie game (with some explanations thrown in about cultural references). There are occasional random untranslated scenes (we found about three in the whole game), but it didn't really detract from the flow of the game and it's pretty forgivable.Overall, despite a few language glitches and a few bits of awkward translation, this is a quirky little gem of a horror game with great writing, genuinely creepy atmosphere, multiple branching endings and some surprising twists and turns. 9/10. 1st Russian VN I played - it's free - ES (Everlasting Summer). Definitely in my top3 VN of all-time. Playthrough of all routes takes more than 20 hours.http://store.steampowered.com/app/331470/2nd Russian VN I played - it's paid - RHS (Russian Horror Story) - one of worst story. A lot of spelling errors, terrible font to read... annoying music. I don't mind graphics at all.It says about some typical Russian stuff like "pelmeni" - English speakers won't know what it is... it could have a renpy.notify with explanation... ugh... but no, why bother, right?PS: I'm gonna screenshot every grammar issues or typos I encounter during playthrough.PS2: So, 3 hours in game with some AFK periods for all routes... nono... unpleasant game.
